Having started collecting at age 6, I am a 30-year ANA member and have volunteered for the ANA, since 1989 — as an exhibit judge, YN Summer Seminar chaperone and convention volunteer. Professionally, I have a 20+ year career in Information Technology – including five years in management consulting – and currently work as a project manager for Centene, ensuring large-scale projects are completed on-time and on-budget, the same goals the ANA has for meeting its objectives.
While the ANA is our national coin club, it is also a small business with a $6 million annual budget, more than 35 employees and assets totaling over $75 million. Perhaps the most important role of the ANA Board of Governors is to properly manage these assets to further the ANA’s educational mission – both today and for many years to come. I have both the collector’s background and business experience to lead the ANA.
The accomplishments of which I am most proud from my first two terms on the board are the launch of the ANA’s new website and the development of the ANA Strategic Plan.
Our new website provides a platform through which the ANA can provide exclusive content. Beginning later this year, ANA members will have online access to the entire 127 year history of The Numismatist. Future plans call for placing educational programming from conventions and Summer Seminar online – allowing members who cannot attend these events in person to still benefit from them remotely.
The ANA Strategic Plan provides clear priorities for the association, including member outreach, financial stability and improved museum security. The “ANA Road Show” is a program, developed from the strategic plan, which allows members across the country to view exhibits from the ANA Money Museum & Library and meet ANA staff and officers, without having to travel to Colorado Springs.
Most importantly, I plan to remain a Governor who is available to the membership. All comments, thoughts and questions are welcome. I can always be reached by email at GregL13@swbell.net.
In accordance with ANA bylaws, each candidate for ANA office must furnish a biographical sketch and platform, not exceeding 350 words in length, for publication in The Numismatist. To read the statements of the other candidates for the 2015 Board of Governors election, click here.
