The ANA Seeks Teachers For Coins in the Classroom Seminar

The American Numismatic Association is accepting applications for “Coins in the Classroom,” a five-day continuing education seminar July 9-13 at Colorado College.

By taking the course, teachers learn how to use coins in their primary and secondary classrooms to augment their curriculum in social studies, mathematics and other related disciplines.

“The course consists of presentations, interactive discussions and workshops directed toward understanding how coins from ancient civilizations to modern times can be used to help young minds learn and grow,” said ANA Outreach Director Lane Brunner, Ph.D. “The ANA Money Museum and reference library are nationally recognized resources right here in Colorado Springs. We have displays and teacher workbooks that were produced with Colorado educational standards in mind.”

Teachers accepted into the program receive full tuition scholarships. The ANA will work with participating teachers to secure continuing education credits from local districts; graduate credits are available through Colorado College.

For more information and an application, contact Jane Colvard at 719-482-9869 or e-mail outreach@money.org. Applications are due March 17.
