For those who are unfamiliar with Richard S. Yeoman, he is the author of “A Guide Book of United States Coins,” which is more commonly referred to as The Official Red Book. This book has been used by collectors and dealers for decades to accurately price coins.

The Central States Numismatic Society began in 1939 and continues to be one of the major numismatic organizations in America. The CSNS operates in 13 midwestern states but numismatists from all over the world are welcome to join.

Recently, this card was found in the treasure chest of old photos in the museum at the American Numismatic Association. This card indicates that Richard S. Yeoman from Racine, Wisconsin, was a member in good standing of the Central States Numismatic Society in 1942. At the time, membership for a full year was just 50 cents.

While we can’t quite beat 50 cents a year, the American Numismatic Association is running a promotion right now that will save new members $10 off their first year of membership. This is a great opportunity for new members to join a nation of coin collectors and gain access to the best education in numismatics. To redeem this discount, use special offer code SAVE10 when signing up.
