The United States Mint has been launching quarters honoring national parks and national sites with the America the Beautiful Quarters Program that began in 2010. Today, the 26th coin in the series, Homestead National Monument of America, was released. The quarter will be available for purchase on Feb. 24 at noon EST from the United States Mint.

According to the U.S. Mint, the quarter’s reverse represents the three fundamentals of survival to all homesteaders: food, shelter and water. The quarter is a tribute to the settlers who braved harsh conditions to build the American West. Also on the coin are the inscriptions “HOMESTEAD,” “NEBRASKA,” “2015,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

What do you think of the new design?  Will you be purchasing the coin when it is available? Do you own other quarters in the America the Beautiful series? Give us your thoughts by commenting below.
